2023. THE YEAR OF THE BARBIE MOVIE (*YOBM). Women were finally publicly recognized for running this economy, & I am here for it! I would be remiss to not give a nice little recap of the products we discovered, doubled down on, & that got us through it all.

SIDE BAR- I imagine this is mostly being consumed by my girls, gays, & theys… but for the fierce kings that stumble on in & may be wondering “how does this information benefit me?!”, I got you! Marti Barletta, the WORLD’S foremost expert on marketing to women, said “Women don't buy brands. They join them.” Period. So, take this info back to the boardroom, utilize it next time you open robinhood, OR, the most recommended use of this information, buy a few of these goodies for the ✨gorgeous goddesses that grace you with their presence on this earth.

Back in November I asked a handful of my personal 2023 favorite things (aka my friends, both new & old) to send me 3-5 things from the past year that absolutely overtook them & changed them on a cellular level! The items, reads, practices, & listens that must not be gatekept 🙅🏻‍♀️ going into 2024. In the post Barbie movie era, we live in solidarity with ALL the girlies… thank you.

2. “101 essay that will change the way you think” by  Brianna West- I read this book first thing 2023 & am currently kicking 2024 off with it again. Its easy to digest, useful, & is truly one of the best mindset books I have read… which is saying something!

3. Awe inspired jewelry- Awe DOES NOT MISS! Either in jewelry for yourself that is both gorgeous & meaningful, or for gifting! I have rings, necklaces, & bracelets from them & have for YEARS! 4. Putting my phone on DND during the day- I did this far more often this year, & let me tell you what… life went on & I felt a lot less urgency. 10/10 recommend this for all my lil ADHD & neurodivergent bbs!

5. Reebok Women's Club C Extra Sneaker- ADD THESE TO YOUR CLOSET NOOOW! I have paired them with everything from anthropologie dresses for fancy winery trips to my 7th grade VS sweats for my walks to Trader Joe’s. They are incredible & versatile AF.

1. Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Sticks- I’m under qualified to talk about makeup but I will say this has been one of my favorite purchases of the year! I actually need to rebuy because I ran out & have been missing it!

2. Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine- Technically bought this end of last year but what would i do without this thing? We wouldn’t even be cafe Davis without this…

3. PAVOI 14K Gold Plated huggies- These earrings!! I haven’t taken them out since getting them & they still aren’t tarnished. I’m obsessed & have a few others from the same brand that seem to last forever & they’re soooo cheap!

4. SKIMS Fits everybody scoop bralette- This SKIMS bra is the bomb. I don’t know how I lived before having this. The only thing I will wear now.

1. Fresca + TJ’s lite cranberry juice- This is a go-to nightly mocktail. If you every hear me say “extra bloody” I am referring to the amount of cran I want in this perfect mix!

2. Covergirl hydrating moisturizer- I have no business giving grown up skin care advice, but this is my most favorite.

3. CeraVe Tinted sunscreen- My big sister told me I have to put on sunscreen everyday, & this one is how I make that happen!

4. Wild gummies (huckleberry hybrid)- These are legal where I live & I have anxiety & yadda yadda yadda.

1. Sunwarrior greens- I drink this every morning & it has saveddddd my gut. Plus collagen for all things hair, skin & nails!

2. LMNT Electrolytes - This actuallyyyyy replaces your electrolytes & helps with thirst! if you like salty yummy things you'll lovee this!

3. Built cookie dough bars- New fave protein bar. Just get it .

4. Jade roller- obsessed with this every morning. Removes all the puffy & feels so nice on my faceee

5. Vuori Leggings- They’re better than lulu. trust me

6. Protein Hot cocoa- If you loveeee hot cocoa but need more protein, you legit need this ASAP

7. Deep Blue- Whether its sore muscles or cramps this lotion is literally magic & solves all of my problems

1. two hot takes!- Favorite Podcast! it’s a podcast that goes through the aita & tifu reddit pages & talks through the most dramatic ones. a great listen when you’re in the mood to judge people on the internet or need to feel better about yourself on a bad day

2. Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides- I have it in my coffee every single morning. dissolves completely, absolutely no residue or chunks left behind & no flavor at all. It sparked a ton of new hair growth & strengthened my nails & it’s got 10g of protein per serving if you are a stress gorlie who forgets to eat breakfast sometimes. Keeps ya more full

3. Liquid Death Armless Palmer- I started drinking this nearly every day in 2023. 100% of your vitamin b in this bad boy. no artificial or added sugars. tastes like an ACTUAL REAL ARNOLD PALMER & is less than 40 calories for this big ass thing. it’s perfect if you hate plain old water & are a dehydrated gorlie like me because i drink these so much

1. La Roche-Posay purifying foaming cleanser- Such a soft cleanser that actually gets rid of all the dirt & oil while still protecting & moisturizing my skin barrier

2. Covergirl weightless water cream- So hydrating, clean ingredients & leaves my skin looking pointless, can double as a good make up primer too!

3. Chobani Sweet Cream- So tasty & thick & uses more whole ingredients compared to most creamers

4. Colorpop super shock highlighter in the shade hippo- super fine grain highlighter so it’s just a subtle pop but it makes me feel glowy!

5. Redken Acidic bonding shampoo- Leaves my hair silky & I haven’t had to trim my hair as much, helps my split ends!

6. Canadian Bitters by st Francis herb farm- my digestion is so on point when I use this consistently, my bloating goes down & I can count on a good morning poop!

2. Eucalyptus/mint candles- Literally any brand but it’s become my favorite flavor.

3. Thrive Causemetics liquid lash extensions- the BEST affordable mascara. I’ve been using a different brand for YEARS & this has been the only mascara that’s made me switch for the quality & price.

4. Zen wise Digestive Enzyme- helps with the after din din bloat✨

5. CALM Magnesium supplement- great for good poops & good sleep! Huge game changer in my night routine.

4. Big sunglasses- These will cover half of my face & make people think I have it together when I look wrecked!

5. Just ingredients chocolate coconut protein powder- The only protein powder that I actually like the taste of! Combine it with some ice, califa coconut milk, & almond butter. My kids even like it!

1. Glow screen - Supergoop Love that it takes care of my skin while also giving me that special light glow (I’m obsessed!)

2. Oli pop- I no longer drink soda but I often crave the taste & knowing there’s a healthier option for me to get the taste without feeling bad about it is amazing.

3. ClassPass- this has helped me to stick to my workouts so much!! I love getting to take from different studios while paying a similar price for only one spot.

4. The Ordinary Hylaronic acid- I use this day & night & never skip it.

4. DAE Prickly Pear Hair Oil- I would use this for the scent alone lol, but it is also the best

1. DrJart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment- I prefer no make up & use skin care to help with that endeavor. This product is amazing instead of using concealer it helps even out my skin tone but also has the added benefit of being a serum. It was a game changer for me.

2. Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil- this is my guilty pleasure spend. It makes your face glowy, hydrated & just feels so luxurious.

3. Rockstar Recovery (only the orange flavor)- this is a must have for me. No carbonation, low sugar, electrolytes… I mean it’s basically a health drink right?

4. “The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company”- this book taught me so much about leadership, being present, focusing on your growth, & general practice of how you can learn from everyone around you. I loved it & even implemented the “pick 3” rule into my values, goals, & life.

5. Oura Ring- this thing has been a staple in my everyday routine. It tracks all the fitness & health things I am looking for without the constant interruptions of smart watches. Plus it doesn’t look like I am wearing a fitness tracker. Everything from running routes, steps, sleep, heart rate, body temp, & more. It’s a well-rounded simple & beautiful tool.

1. Converse Women's Leather Chuck Taylor All Star Lugged- I love this pair of shoes so much, I have three pairs. Goes with most outfits, & pairs well with a dress or skirt. My favorite pair of shoes in 2021, 2022, & 2023.

1. Luxe Beauty 4 in 1 Vegan Skin Cleanser- I’m super particular about what I put on my face. This is by far the best, clean/vegan cleanser I have found. It’s oil-based, creamy, non-foaming & leaves my skin feeling super soft & moisturized. It’s also a skin care line that doesn’t break the bank, which is always a bonus!

2. Luxe Beauty Unscented Face, Neck & Hands lotion- The best clean beauty line I have found! I use this lotion on my face, neck & hands morning & night. It’s super moisturizing, but not heavy or oily. It’s technically unscented, but it has the simplest, most delightful smell. Obsessed!

3. Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40- Magic in a bottle! I absolutely love my skin tint. I love that the product is three in one (skincare, sunscreen & light coverage), simplifying my morning routine. I have a few fine lines, & I love that the skin tint doesn't sink into them, it smoothes them out. I also love the minimal coverage. It evens out my skin tone, while still allowing for a very natural look. I have been using it for a few years now, & I will never use anything else!

4. Seed Daily Synbiotic- This daily pre/probiotic keeps me regular & keeps things moving (if you know what I mean 😂). My menstrual flow has also regulated since being on this product. I also love that it’s a pre & probiotic in one capsule. Highly recommend it if you have issues with regularity.

5. Clearstem Pregame Face Mask- Another clean beauty line. I have used a lot of their products, but this one is my favorite. I love using this mask right before a night out. It instantly brightens & smooths out my skin & leaves it extra glowy.

1. GUA SHA- When I got Bell’s palsy this year I started using it religiously & I swear to god it has helped define my bone structure.

2. Benetint lip + cheek stain- So so good.

3. Kindle Paperwhite- changed my reading game & I am now reading twice as much as I did last year!

4. Clean Simple Eats: Raspberry Lemonade Super Greens Mix- Ku’u & I have been obsessing over these greens

Liz- sorry kids, can’t stalk this one

1. Elta MD UV Clear- I wish I would have cared about my skin earlier in life & started wearing sunscreen… even though we can’t reverse time we can do our best to protect the youth we have left! I started wearing Elta MD tinted sunscreen daily because it was a great base no matter what I was doing; it doubled as skin protection & light foundation coverage. But I really put it to the test in Costa Rica this summer. I wore it every day & my face didn’t burn ONCE (I’m also on tretinoin) where my whole body was fried.

2. 24k Gold Under Eye Masks- I keep these on hand in my fridge at all times for extra sleepy mornings, in my bag while traveling, or when I feel like I need a pick me up! I really feel like they plump up the skin around my eyes & help my makeup go on better.

3. Dr. Dan’s Cortibalm- I have always suffered from eczema & dry skin since I was little. As a result my lips are usually always dry & cracked. I’ve tried numerous products with little to no relief. After doing some online research I found this product that changed my lips overnight. I don’t mean to be dramatic but this product has changed my life! Just read the reviews.

4. Down Beats Reusable High Fidelity Ear Plugs- If there is one thing I always have in my purse it’s these! I was struggling with tinnitus after going to loud events, so when I discovered high fidelity ear plugs my experience was changed forever. They let just enough sound in to enjoy the experience without having to sacrifice my hearing for the next 24-48 hours. If you love live events or music these are a must have!

1. HiBAR Moisturize Bar Shampoo & Conditioner Set- I am always looking for plastic free alternatives for my beauty routine, & I absolutely love the high bar products even more than regular traditional shampoos. I use less product & my hair seems healthier & happier than ever.

2. PURA D'OR 4 Oz Organic Rosehip Seed Oil- I love facial oils & I found that organic rose hip oil leaves my skin glowing & is easily absorbed. I put it on after the shower & before I put my make up on.

3. Moon Juice Acid Potion AHA & BHA Liquid Exfoliator- I love this acid potion from moon juice. I use it before I have special events to smooth out my skin & then follow it up with moisturizing with my Rosehip oil. It works really well & a little bit goes a long way. It leaves my skin 10 times smoother than before, by chemically exfoliating & removing dead layers.
